Assignment Description
In this multi-stage project, you and your group members will select a scientific concept and learn how to research the topic using peer-reviewed and popular press sources, explain it clearly to scientific and non-scientific audiences, and demonstrate why it matters.
You will complete the assignment in five stages:
- Assignment 1: For this task, you will explore potential topics, evaluate sources, and practice assimilating and integrating information to provide an introductory definition for your topics.
- Assignment 2: In your second task, you will select one concept to research and write about for the remaining three assignment.
- Assignment 3: You will write drafts of your introduction and conclusion for your paper as well as propose a potential structure for the body paragraphs of your paper through the process of outlining.
- Assignment 4:You have two tasks for your final assignment. First, you will write a 5 to 6-page research paper. Second, you give a 7-to-9-minute presentation in your breakout session.
