This week we are finalizing your topic and sources for your persuasive video essay. This week, you must share the following elements in your post.
The topic you selected:
- Briefly describe the specific topic you’ve selected in 2 to 4 sentences
- Explain why you selected this topic in 2 to 4 sentences
- Provide what your main argument and proof will be in 2 to 4 sentences
- Share 4 additional sources (not including the one from last week) you will be using to support your persuasive proposition
- At least one of the sources must be a peer-reviewed journal article
- The three other sources may be from popular press or other reputable sources
- You will assess each of the sources using the CRAAP method you used last week
- Currency:
- When was the information published?
- Has it been updated?
- Are the internal links functional?
- Relevance:
- Does the information relate to your topic?
- Who is the intended audience?
- Is the information at the appropriate level?
- Authority:
- Is the author listed?
- Is there contact information for the author?
- Is the author qualified to write about the topic?
- Accuracy:
- Where does the supporting information come from?
- Are the claims supported by evidence?
- Are there spelling or grammar errors?
- Purpose:
- What is the purpose of this information? To inform? To persuade? To entertain?
- Is the point of view of the piece objective or is the purpose clear?
