This week we are getting ready for your Informative Speech. It is important to brainstorm to get to your best ideas. To help you think through your informative topic ideas, please answer the following questions for 2 potential topics you are considering for your final speech:
- What type of informative speech will it be?
- Provide a 2 – 3 sentence description of each of the topics.
- Why are you interested in this topic? Is this part of a hobby you have? Does it connect to a potential professional interest? General curiosity?
- Share at least 2 sources per topic and use the CRAAP method for assessing sources
- Currency:
- When was the information published?
- Has it been updated?
- Are the internal links functional?
- Relevance:
- Does the information relate to your topic?
- Who is the intended audience?
- Is the information at the appropriate level?
- Authority:
- Is the author listed?
- Is there contact information for the author?
- Is the author qualified to write about the topic?
- Accuracy:
- Where does the supporting information come from?
- Are the claims supported by evidence?
- Are there spelling or grammar errors?
- Purpose:
- What is the purpose of this information? To inform? To persuade? To entertain?
- Is the point of view of the piece objective or is the purpose clear?
